Recap Of The 2022-2023 Team Homan Shots Simplified Presented by BOOST Simply+

It was an exciting season for Team Homan, welcoming new team member Tracy Fleury and everyone trying a different position. The team finished off the season ranked #2 in Canada (CTRS) and #3 in the world (WCTR) with a 50-17 record, six finals and four Championship wins (2022 Tour Challenge Slam, 2022 Red Deer Curling Classic, 2023 Ontario Provincials and 2023 Champions Cup Slam). Throughout the season, with our friends at BOOST, we simplified some of the pivotal shots of the season.

2022 Tour Challenge Slam – Sarah Wilkes simplified a pivotal shot to win their final as a new team

Here’s the recap:

  • Could have tied for 1

  • Took the risk for three instead

  • Needed perfect weight from Rachel

  • Team communication to judge the sweep

  • Made it for 3

2023 Ontario Provincials – Emma Miskew discusses a thin double Rachel made in the final

Here’s the recap:

  • Could have given up 2-3

  • Forced with this double

  • Homan threw extra weight

  • Had to hit the first rock thin

  • Kudos to Emma sweeping that one

2023 Champions Cup Slam – Tracy Fleury discussed a must-win round-robin game

Here’s the recap:

  • Needed perfect quiet board weight

  • Sweepers held the line

  • Roll the shooter for three points

  • Kudos to Tracy for the line call on that one

2023 Champions Cup Slam – Rachel Homan breaks down her last shot in an extra end to win the final

The options for the final shot to tap:

  • Frozen to the yellow on the right

  • Frozen to our red rock

  • Sideways beside their other yellow stone

To put it SIMPLY:

  • Never give up, and stay positive when you are down in a game

  • A great team shot that required good communication

  • New path, so had to align on the weight

  • Get past the guard to tap back and freeze the red stone

  • Angle of our last shot allowed a steal to win the game
