Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Players' Championship

The Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling returned this month with the Players' Championship in Toronto.

The Players' Championship brought us to downtown Toronto, along with 11 other of the top women's teams in a split round-robin.  The two pools consisted of six teams each. Eight teams advanced to the weekend playoffs at the Mattamy Centre.

The Players' Championship at the former Maple Leaf Garden had 12 of the top men's teams on tour competing at the event. It's a great chance for fans and curlers across Southern Ontario of all ages to get up close with some of the best curling in the world.

It wasn't our best week in Toronto, having missed the playoffs. However, this event is always a great chance to meet fans and play in front of great Ontario crowds of all ages.

The Players' Championship was the first event for us since the 2018 Winter Olympics.  We took a couple of weeks after the Olympics to spend time with our family, relax, recharge and practice for the next Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling events.

We were disappointed with our results in Pyeongchang but we enjoyed the experience, learned a lot and are so thankful for the support we received.  Canadian curling fans were supportive throughout Olympic journey.  We want to thank each of you for the encouragement, kind words and gestures we received over the last two months.

Fans, sponsors, family and friends stood by us. Even if we did not achieve what we set out for, we are proud of the efforts we put in.  Wearing the Maple Leaf on a curling sheet can be heavy but it is outweighed by the incredible honour and pride you feel every time you get that privilege.

Our last stop on the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling takes us to western Canada in late April. You can catch us at the Humpty's Champions Cup from April 24-29 in Calgary at WinSport Arena.

Congratulations to Canda's Paralympic Team on capturing bronze in Pyeongchang!  They battled through a tough tournament and we enjoyed following their games. We also congratulate Team Jennifer Jones for winning the Women's worlds and keeping the trophy in Canada! Canada also had a dominant performance at the World Juniors by Teams Kaitlyn Jones and Tyler Tardi.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated in the largest tournament ever for Egg Farmers Rocks & Rings presented by Curling Canada. We've helped with these events in the past. We know how many of the kids can be inspired to take up curling after they've experienced it in their school.
