Victory to start the season

2016 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Curling Classic

2016 AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Curling Classic

Our 2016 - 2017 season has started on a winning note.  This past week we added our name to the AMJ Campbell Shorty Jenkins Curling Classic trophy for a third time following a win over Team Flaxey in the final.

The Cornwall, Ontario stop on the World Curling Tour was our first event of the season.  The 15 team field included rinks from across Ontario, Quebec, Atlantic Canada, the USA and Europe with a purse of $29,500 on the women's side.

We started in a round robin pool with Teams Fleming (SCO), Inglis (ONT), MacPhee (PEI) and Morrissey (ONT).  We went undefeated through pool play which pushed us right into the semi-final. There we defeated Quebec's Team Larouche 9-4. We faced Ontario's Team Flaxey in the final where we picked up a 7-1 win.  The win earned us additional points on the tour and gets our season off to a great start.

The Shorty Jenkins Classic has been kind to us over the years, with victories in 2009 and 2010 and runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013.

Thanks to all of the organizers, volunteers in Cornwall for hosting a great event.  The level of curling was top notch and the hospitality and organization matched.

Our next event is the Canad Inns Women's Classic in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba from October 21-24.
